 Presentation of the facilities
A wind tunnel facilities is a compound of mostly:
- The tunnel itself, with adjustable cross section thanks to movable walls and ceiling.
- The roll bench authorizing realistic road conditions from 0 to 250 km/h as well as city driving simulation.
- The 3 meter diameter and 550kW fan is in charge of creating a realistic pressure field identical to the one surrounding a vehicule in real motion.
- The refrigerating installation, an air humidity control process and a solar simulation bench allow to adjust the ambiant temperature from -35 to +55°C.
- The data acquisition system provides data collection and real time processing allowing the test supervisor to keep informed of the measurement evolution.
- In addition, an external heater circuit allows the cooling radiator to be fed with a very precise coolant flow rate and temperature in order to, for instance, assess the front end air flow, optimise the air entrance cross section, the air sealing, etc...
